Universities and Institutes in Andhra Pradesh

Telangana is the largest region of the state covering 42% of the total area, while Coatal Andhra covers 34% and Rayalaseema cover 24% of the area. The population of Telangana is 40%, Andhra is 43%, and Rayalaseema is 17% of the total state's population.  The contribution of Telangana to the state's revenue is more than 42%. The literacy rate of the whole Andhra Pradesh is higher than Bihar (the state with lowest literacy in the Indian Union, 38%), while the literacy rate of Telangana is at 37%, (below the lowest of the Indian average), Andhra is 46% and Rayalaseema is 45%. The average literacy rate is 52% in the Indian Union.  The number of institutions of higher education per capita in Andhra Pradesh is way below that of any advanced country.  While as a state, Andhra Pradesh has a long way to go in achieving 100% literacy rate, Telangana seems to be particularly in a pathetic situation.
