Jaladurga Prasadarayudu Nidamarti (1862-1947)


Jaladurga Prasadarayudu Nidamarti, also known as Durgayya, was born in 1862 in a Deshpande family (most probably a migrated Marathi Brahmin family) in Kommara village in West Godavari district. His father was Venkatanarasimhamu and mother was Sattemma.  Their family moved from Kommara to Rajamahendravaram, where Durgayya completed all his education.  He had a successful law practice and became very rich.

His writings include harischandra charitra, meghasandeshamu, uttararama charitra, sakuntalamu, champu ramayanamu, bhagavadgeeta darshanamu etc.
