Yogananda Chillarige (1880-1957) Yogananda Chillarige was born in 1880 to Narasimharao
and Seshagiramma in Seesali village in West Godavari district of Andhra.
They belonged to Brahmins of Madhva Religion and Haritasa lineage. His father
Narasimharao was a teacher. Yogananda's primary education was at home, where
he finished his 1st and second grades and entered into agriculture. Later,
at the age of about 20, he revived his education, finished teacher's training
at Guntur Government Training School, and became a teacher. He quit teaching
for a while to join a printing press. Later, he reentered teaching profession
as Headmaster at Gudlavalleru Board School. He retired as Andhra (Telugu)
Teacher at Rojolu High School.
His published works include baalasatakamu, devayaani vijayam, kakavalli, gnaanavati, balakaandamu, sundarakaandamu, lakshana chandrika (http://www.archive.org/details/LakshanaChandrila), bhaagavata kathhaavali, vijayadasami, nootana keertanalu, paamarti ashtaavadhaanam, suboadhini satakam, sreeraamaprabhu satakam, ramaayanam etc. Many more works such as yaadava sambhavam, sabdadoashaparishkarana nighantuvu, ganitadarpanamu, seetaaraamakalyaanamu, aandhravyaakaranaratnamu etc remain unpublished.
