Seshayya Chaganti (1881-1956)
Seshayya Chaganti was born in 1881 in Kapileswarapuram in East Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh. His father was Krishnayya and mother was Subbamma. After finishing his primary education in his village, he continued his study of Andhra, English and Sanskrit languages on his own. In 1914, he wrote an article on Dravidas in Andhra country. He started a publishing house "Andhra Pracharini Grandha Nilayam" and published several translations such as durgesha namdini, navaabunamdini, viswaprayatnam, radharani, sri etc. Later he served the landlord of Kapileswarapuram village as an administrative officer and supported the landlord in publishing Telugu books. One such endeavor was aandhra kavi tarangini, an exhaustive account of Telugu poets' history in 25 volumes. His works included not only literature works, but also legal texts such as Hindu Law, Local Boards Act, Cooperative Societies Act etc. He also published a journal called Local Boards.
