Kakatiya University
Kakatiya University was started as a postgraduate center of Osmania University
in 1967 at Warangal. This center was upgraded to an independent University
in 1976. The first Vice Chancellor of this University was Prof. Venkataramayya.
Later Professors Jaffer Nizam and Jayashankar were the Vice Chancellors.
The current Vice Chancellor is Prof. Vaikuntham. It has jurisdiction over
76 affiliated colleges and post graduate centers in the disrticts of Adilabad,
Kareemnagar, Khammam and Warangal. Approximately 40,000 regular students
and 25,000 external students are enrolled in this University.
